Maybe you’re not a fan of polka dots or stripes or perhaps you just have too many of both, which is why now is the perfect time to try a new print for the season — a scarf print. Exotic in look, the scarf print takes your dresses and tops to a whole new style level and looks pretty on every shape, size and comes in almost every color.

The “perfect” bag is often matter of taste. Some like shoulder bags, some like handheld. Some women prefer huge, cavernous styles, some like small, structured interiors. One handbag style, however, continually garners rave reviews: the satchel. Large or small, satchels are convenient and, by their nature, structured enough for work or casual days. And for spring and summer 2013, this bag style is even better thanks to expandable gussets. Part functional and part aesthetic, gussets allow the bag to morph into exactly the size you need when you need it. Price points are trending a little higher for these styles, but don’t let the investment scare you. They look so fresh and new now, but they really are a classic shape you’ll adore for years to come.

Store away your standard LBD and buy yourself a “LBY”, little yellow dress, for the spring and summer season. This bright dress has become the standard in dresses this season and will lighten up any event you have to attend. You’ll look and feel like a ray of sunshine just wearing it too!
One of my favorite tops to wear is a peasant blouse which is perfect for the breezy spring season. Embroidered, embellished and sometimes sheer, the boho peasant blouse looks great paired with gladiator sandals and leggings or with cropped jeans and wedges. It’s the perfect casual chic look for day or night.

Tunic time

Tunics are one of my favorite things to wear, especially during spring. Available in a variety of lengths, belted and non-belted, short or long-sleeved, the tunic is one of the most versatile tops you can own and you can wear it dressed up or dressed down. Throw it on as a swim cover-up with flip-flops or wear it with a pair of skinny jeans and heels for a lovely seasonal look.
Show off your amazing shoulders and biceps that we know you’ve been hard at work on with a strapless dress this season. Now only will you will avoid getting those nasty tan lines if you happen to be standing in the sun, you’ll also accentuate your tiny waist and create the illusion of a larger bust (if that’s your goal) with this dress silhouette. If you happen to be large chested and aren’t completely comfortable with no straps, just add a pretty cardigan or jean jacket over the dress to complete the look.
The shirtdress is having a moment this spring and it’s taking center stage in graphic patterns like ikat and florals to classic solids like chambray. For a casual look, pair it with embellished flat sandals or to dress it up a notch, add a statement necklace and a pair of metallic heels.

If there’s ever been a year to eat our words in terms of fashion, this seems to be it. From backpacks to Bermuda shorts, styles that we swore we would never, ever, ever wear again are suddenly coming back as major trends. One return that somehow feels new and fresh is the chambray dress. Like the ’80s and early ’90s, the lightweight denim-like fabric is showing up on primarily loose, comfortable shirtdresses and tank dresses. What’s different (read: more modern) is the length and styling. Shorter hemlines paired with heels and wedges offset the potential to look right off the range, while longer hems and boho ankle boots or sneakers add just enough edge. Design to fabrication, you can’t beat the ease and cool comfort of styles like those featured below.

Add a little ‘pop’ to your already bright spring wardrobe with a floral, ombre or chevron printed scarf this season for an extra dose of style. Perfect for windy days or for weekend trips, a scarf is a versatile accessory that can easily take your outfit from day to night.
Now we can support the troops all season long with a stylish nod to their everyday style. For spring the military chic look is on trend and includes everything from jackets with military detailing like straps and buttons to camo jeans and dresses. With this look, DON’T wear it from head to toe but DO add a key military piece and an eye-popping accent of color to go with it like a coral or mint colored shirt or bright flats.

Upon hearing the news yesterday of the passing of iconic designer, Lilly Pulitzer, I knew I had to celebrate her style by showcasing a few picks from her spring 2013 line. A schoolmate of Jackie O., Pulitzer shot to fame after the First Lady was photographed wearing a dress designed by her. Loyal to her Palm Beach roots, Lilly was most famous for her sleeveless dresses in bright floral prints that in the fashion industry are often referred to as the “Lilly.” All of her items can be found at lillypulitzer.com and she has apparel, shoes and accessories for women, girls and babies.

This season metallic is the new nude and it’s not just reserved for date night anymore. Throw on a sequined tank with your favorite jeans or add a pair of silver sandals for a playful look with your maxi dress. However you wear it, make it shiny and fun for a look that definitely stands out all on its own.

Whether you’re headed out of town to find a little bit of sunshine and fun or if you’re just planning a staycation, make sure your bag is packed with these essential items to make for a perfectly stylish spring break.

A maxi dress is a must-have for any destination this spring!
Pretty enough to dress-up or dress down.
Casual enough for day and can also be dressed up for a night out on the town.
A denim jacket is classic enough to go with every outfit you pack.
Wear as a swim cover-up or as a tunic top with your bermuda shorts. Just add a tank underneath.

Personally, I’ve always been a fan of floral prints because they make me feel like I’m on vacation, even when I’m not. This season, I’m really loving the floral print shoe trend that is being seen on everything from canvas sneakers to wedges to sky-high heels. Pick a small ditsy flower pattern to dress up a pair of ankle jeans or go for a big, bold floral print that will brighten any average black dress.

Whether you’re one to follow the trends or not, there’s not denying that all of us need an everyday long-sleeve button-down shirt in our closet. It’s easy to pair with jeans and can be worn underneath a sheath dress to add warmth and style for a colder spring day. This season add a button-down top in your favorite color or print for an instant wardrobe update that will never go out of style.

Spring is officially here, even if some of us are still shoveling snow outside our homes. It’s time to find your favorite pair of sandals and slip into some white denim to celebrate the coming of the new, warmer season.  A pair of skinny white denim jeans, cropped ankle pants, a white denim pencil skirt or a white denim jacket is the perfect addition to your spring wardrobe and matches anything — no color swatches necessary.

Don’t you just love when a trend is mom-friendly?! While as much as I love toting an oversized clutch, it’s not really practical when it comes to going to the park with the kids. Update your spring bag with a crossbody bag that will keep your hands free for holding tiny hands while crossing the streets and juggling as many snacks and sippy cups as you possibly can. Go for a bright and bold color like turquoise or a colorblocked bag for the ultimate style update.
